J.
David Taylor

J. David Taylor comes to The Taylor
Group with
having studied many styles of glass
manipulation. His enthusiasm for his work has led him across the country
in search of more diverse avenues to express his creativity.
The glass sculptures featured with The Taylor Group are inspired by the
lively use of color from Post-Impressionism and Fauvism. What emerges is
his interest in the visual juxtaposition of bio-morphed forms that flow
through industrialized structures. The dynamic interplay of forms and
colors create vectors that project through space and hint at the idea
that they could continue on into infinity.
The forms illustrate flow impressions between biomorphic and linear
shapes. The vectors are segmented, revealing abstract compositions and
color relationships contained within them.
The surface treatment of the organic forms creates a softer tone to
challenge the crisp, polished surface of the tubes. The implied notions
of continuation confront the viewer to assess if there could be more to
the piece than what is seen. Taylor's intent is to evoke a visual play
through color and intimate design elements.
Taylor graduated with honors from Kent State University in 2002. He
currently creates art in Kent, Ohio and plans to diversify his portfolio
for future art shows. We will keep you updated with his artistic
endeavors.
