The
Crucible Gallery
Artists J. David Taylor and Jason Wein have opened up a glass and metal
studio and gallery in Burton, Ohio. They renovated an old building one
block north of the junction of US 422 and Route 44, creating a space
conducive to metalworking and glass blowing. Onsite, the artists
showcase their work in The Crucible Gallery.
This venture culminates after many years of hard work in their field of
metal and glass art. Wein & Taylor are experienced artists in glass
blowing and metalwork. Their industrial metalwork and glass lighting are
functional in even traditional home décor. Wein’s use of marble and
steel are inspirational, and Taylor’s use of vibrant colors in his
custom glass lighting, bowls and vases can transform a blank room
instantly into a showcase of your personal style.
The forms illustrate flow impressions between biomorphic and linear
shapes. The vectors are segmented, revealing abstract compositions and
color relationships contained within them.
The surface treatment of the organic forms creates a softer tone to
challenge the crisp, polished surface of the tubes. The implied notions
of continuation confront the viewer to assess if there could be more to
the piece than what is seen. Taylor's intent is to evoke a visual play
through color and intimate design elements.
